Mud Room Bench Revival

By

The first room in our basement is aptly called the Mud Room, and this cypress bench I built ten years ago always ends up with as much mud on it as on the floor.

Today I carried it out to the garage and cleaned it using Minwax® Wood Cabinet Cleaner and a soft cloth.

After it dried I could see the finish had several scratches and needed a fresh coat of protection, so I sanded it lightly with #220-grit sandpaper, wiped off the dust, and . . . .

poured on some Minwax® Wipe-On Poly. I spread it around and rubbed it in the wood using a clean, soft cloth, waited five minutes, then . . . .

wiped off the excess Wipe-On Poly and let the bench dry. Now when it gets dirty (which it will in our house!), I know the wood is going to be safe.

Until next time,

Thanks for stopping by!
