So, I thought the ceramic saucer under the house plant Leigh Ann had placed on this alder stand was waterproof, but I was wrong. Really wrong! This is what happens when water is allowed to soak into wood. Unfortunately, there is no simple solution, as the black stain is in the wood. But it can be saved! It will have to go out to the workshop, where I’ll sand it off, re-stain it to match the base, and apply a couple of fresh coats of Minwax® Fast-Drying Polyurethane. And next time I’ll make sure we have a plastic saucer under the pot!
