A Craft Store Inspiration

By

I was in my local craft store this week to pick up some stencils when I spotted a new item: these over-sized unfinished wood letters. Naturally, I couldn’t resist, so I grabbed a pair for Alexandra, my assistant, plus a letter for my wife Leigh Ann’s last name and one for mine and brought them back to my garage workshop.

I preferred wood tone colors for ours, so Leigh Ann selected Mahogany for her “H” and I picked Chestnut for my “J,” both in the convenient Minwax® Wood Finishing Cloths: water-based stain and finish already added to a durable cloth.

Leigh Ann came up with the idea of overlapping our two initials, and I glued on our house number before displaying it outside our door. Our letters are protected from the sun and rain, but if you needed extra protection, I would recommend also applying a coat of Minwax® Water Based Helmsman® Spar Urethane.

And check back next week to see what Alexandra does with her letters ….

Until then,

Thanks for stopping by!
