If you ever needed a reminder of the silent but deadly damage the sun can do to your furniture, take a look at this leg of an Arts and Crafts settle I just bought. It endured several hours of daily sunlight which slowly but surely broke down the clear finish. I’ll have to refinish it in order to bring back the beauty of the wood, but use this as a reminder of what the sun can — and will — do. The solution? Pull the curtains or blinds when you’re not in the house, install ultra-violet protective film on key windows, and/or rotate your furniture to keep pieces out of the sunlight.
Until next time,
A stitch in time still saves nine!
